Outdoors around Mount Ochsenkopf

Waldlust is conveniently located on the northern side of the Ochsenkopf mountain. The Nord gondola valley station and the Oxenkopf climbing forest are only a few minutes away on foot. The Ochsenkopf ski-jumping arena is nearby, too. The hiking path towards Karches passes right by Waldlust.

The centre of Bischofsgrün, with additional restaurants, inns and cafés, is about a seven-minute walk away. Waldlust is also a convenient starting point for walking, cycling and winter sports.

A great location for exploring

Walk straight to the Ochsenkopf

The Ochsenkopf Nord gondola valley station is within easy walking distance of Waldlust in both summer and winter. The climbing forest and ski-jumping arena are also nearby. In summer, the Alpine Coaster at the valley station and mountain carts departing from the midway station add to the attractions.

The walking trail towards Karches passes the house. Along the way, a Kneipp water-treading facility offers a refreshing break.

For a trip to the valley station you can usually leave your car at the accommodation and avoid the paid public car park by the lift.

Hiking, cycling and Mount Ochsenkopf

The Fichtelgebirge offers varied hiking routes, including the designated quality trails Weißmain-Ochsenkopf-Steig, Bischofsgrüner Panoramaweg and Markgrafenrunde. Mountain bikers can explore Bikepark 1024, which opened in 2026 on the southern side of the Ochsenkopf. Trail and facility opening depends on the season and weather.

When snow conditions allow, enjoy winter walks, cross-country skiing and skiing on Mount Ochsenkopf. Bischofsgrün is also known as the snowman village. Trail and slope availability depends on the weather.
